Jewish Fraternity at University of Michigan Suspended Following Hazing Incident

February 15, 2024, 9:57 AM

An international Jewish fraternity has suspended a University of Michigan chapter following a hazing incident that circulated online, MLive News reports.

Alpha Epsilon Pi’s Ann Arbor chapter was issued the order on Feb. 8.

WWJ reports that allegations center on an online video that allegedly shows pledges sitting in a circle while being hit and kicked by Alpha Epsilon Pi members.

The fraternity, founded under Jewish principles, “does not condone hazing in any way, shape or form,” Jonathan Pierce, a spokesman for the fraternity’s national office, said in an email to MLive/The Ann Arbor News.

“Despite our best efforts to educate our undergraduates, it appears that these men decided to take on this aberrant behavior,” Pierce said.

The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating the matter.
