The Jared Goff of last season -- the one who had fans chanting his name, even at a Detroit Red Wings game -- finally returned to Ford Field Monday night to lead the Lions to a 42-29 victory over the Seattle Seahwaks.
Goff completed 18 of 18 passes, and even caught a touchdown pass in a trick-play thrown by Amon-Ra St. Brown. He threw for 292 yards for two touchdowns. In all, the Lions scored six touchdowns.
Goff looked rusty in the first game of the season and slowly improved each game after that, but still fell short of the Goff that garnered fan admiration last year.
On Monday, it was the Goff fans remembered.
The Lions jumped to a 21-7 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
But Seattle put up a fierce fight in the seond half and the Detroit defense had a diffcult time containing the tough offense.
The final score may have suggested that the Lions crushed Seattle.
But in reality, it was a much tougher and closer game than the score suggested.
